AI & Data Literacy Training
Role-based AI literacy training that meets EU AI Act Article 4 and ISO/IEC 42001 clause 7.2 requirements — in a single deck.
AI literacy is no longer optional. Under Article 4 of the EU AI Act (in effect since February 2025), providers and deployers of AI must ensure staff have sufficient AI literacy. ISO/IEC 42001 clause 7.2 requires competence for roles affecting AI performance. And even without those, AI literacy is becoming an expected standard of professional competence.
This is a 47-slide training session with three role-based tracks in a single deck. Everyone watches Part 1 (Foundation). Managers add Part 2 (Governance). Developers and power users add Part 3 (Technical). Each track ends with its own quiz. Full presenter notes throughout.
Not a 20-minute \"don't paste client data into ChatGPT\" awareness video. This is comprehensive AI literacy — what AI is, how it works, what it can and can't do, regulatory obligations, governance, technical depth. Scaled by role so people learn what they need, not what they don't.
Part 1 — Universal Foundation
For all staff — approximately 20 slides
What AI actually is
Three kinds of AI that matter — traditional automation, machine learning, generative AI. How large language models work in plain language. Why AI predicts rather than understands.
What AI is good at / bad at
Concrete two-column breakdown. Where AI adds value and where it fails — usually confidently.
The 5 key risks
Hallucination, bias, privacy leakage, IP contamination, over-reliance. Real case study on hallucination (the Mata v. Avianca federal court case).
What to put in — and what to never put in
Approved tools vs free consumer tools. Shadow AI — what it is and why it's a risk. The clear list of what never goes in an unapproved AI tool.
AI and the Privacy Act
In Australia, AI governance is often privacy governance. How the APPs apply to AI. The December 2026 ADM transparency obligation.
Regulatory landscape
EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, Australian Voluntary AI Safety Standard. What's in force now and what's coming.
Part 2 — Managers & Decision-Makers
For anyone with oversight, approval, or governance responsibilities — approximately 15 slides
Meaningful human oversight
What the EU AI Act and ISO 42001 actually require. What counts as \"meaningful\" — and the common failure modes (rubber-stamping, volume review). When human review is essential.
Approving AI use cases
An 8-point checklist for evaluating any new AI use before deployment. How to read an AI impact assessment critically.
Managing AI vendors
The 10 questions to ask any AI vendor. Training data, residency, retention, certifications, incident response, SLAs.
Incident escalation & psychological safety
How AI incidents compound. When to escalate. The manager's role in creating the psychological safety that surfaces problems early.
Part 3 — Developers & Power Users
For builders, deployers, and advanced users — approximately 15 slides
The responsible AI lifecycle
Eight stages from problem definition through retirement. Governance implications at every stage.
Data hygiene, bias, and fairness
Training data hygiene checklist. Bias, fairness, and explainability — what they mean and how to test. Disaggregated metrics and counterfactual testing.
Documentation and monitoring
Model cards — what they are, what to include, why they matter. Production monitoring — input drift, output drift, performance, feedback, errors.
AI security
Prompt injection, indirect prompt injection, data exfiltration, model DoS, training data poisoning. Red-teaming approaches.
Safe deployment patterns
Shadow mode, gradual rollout, feature flags, circuit breakers, confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop, post-deployment review.
